My thoughts on 2009
As the biggest number on the calender turning to 2009, I have been on the earth for entirely two decades. I treat certain ages more significant than others, including 10, 18, 20 and so on. They are all signs of changing and growing up to an utterly different period of life. In this case, I plan to do several things which I have never done before.
When I look back at the year 2008, I can say I nearly haven't any regrets, for I have experienced a lot and made some changes in an agreeable way. Therefore, the year 2009 oughts to be more fabulous. I always believe in an old saying, "life is getting better year after year."
In only 2 years, I will step out of the snug campus and then struggle in the job hunting market. To be honest, I am not very worried that I cannot find a suitable job but fearing of confronting the sharp contrast between reality and fantasy. Therefore, I decide to do some preparation from now on. In February this year, I fortunately got a volunteer job as a translator, serving for Disney Corporation. "Disney On Ice" is putting on a show all around the world, in which all the performers are perfect skaters. At Shenzhen stop, the show is called "Princess Wishes". My job was staying backstage and helping the instructor communicate with some local labours and command them to move some heavy properties on the ice. Although it was not a busy and challenging job, I learned a lot about some useful skills in communicating with foreign people and translating, not only from the foreigners, but also from other volunteers and staffs. When I secretly envied another translator Lea of her marvellous ability to talk freely and funnily with foreigners, I made up my mind to work more hard on English study. Honestly speaking, I always believe in my talent, but just need to be extremely hard-working. In the end, the sponsor promised me that she will call me again when "Winnie the Pooh" show comes to Shenzhen this summer. Without doubt, I hope I can do a better job in the future. In terms of this time's volunteer job, I treat it as a beginning of my working practise.
Moreover, I have just transferred my major, from Translation to Business Communication English. I adapt myself to the new class like a duck to water. I'm really looking forward to working with foreigners from different parts of the world and sharing our obviously different or luckily similar values of life. I have always kept an old saying in my mind and it is definitely not cliche to me: where there is a will, there's a way. Absolutely, 2009 will not be an ordinary year for me. I will try my best to make it remarkable. Great thanks to all the people who accompanied me through 2008, and I sincerely hope that I can still have them on my way o f 2009.
Best wishes to you all and myself!
Give me a hug, 2009.
